I am Luvo Vice (22), born and raised in the Eastern Cape, in a rural and coastal town called Mqanduli. It was always and it is still interesting for me to be a member of this community. It is close to town and to the beach. My passion for cycling started when I was kid. I used to dream about owning a bike one day and when I had that bike at age 6 years old, my second dream was to have cycling gear. However, in my family no one likes the sport as they believe it’s dangerous.
I have had falls on my cycling journey; some of them nearly took my life. Of course, these falls did not sit well with my parents but they make me stronger. My bike is my journal, my best friend and most importantly it has taught me how life works. I have participated in many races during my cycling journey but the one I always look forward to is the Cape Town Cycle Tour. It is just beautiful seeing thousands coming around the globe to Cape Town, South Africa for the tour.
It is unfortunate that next year (2019), I won’t be doing the world’s most beautiful ride due to an injury. However, at TSiBA, our philosophy is Paying-It-Forward. I am sharing this story with everyone who believes that Education can change our local communities and most importantly I am sharing my story. All raised funds will go towards TSiBA Education scholarships so that young fellow community members can get a chance to further their studies.
