Manda Gomes se S4J Uitdaging vir 2020

Personal message

My name is Manda Gomes from South Africa, I was approached by Norman Johnson to get involved as an athlete with the S4J Fundraising projects. He informed me about all the different projects S4J are involved in and that the Beja Project needed more exposure. At first I did not know anything about the Beja people, but I was eager to know more. I requested more information and told Norman that I will get involved if he can supply me with all the information in detail, such as why the funds are needed and how they will make use of it etc.

Early last year Norman informed me that they were planning to go to Egypt and that it was a perfect opportunity for me to go and see the need. God made it possible for me to go exactly 2 weeks after Norman’s phone call.

I’m now a proud S4J member who took hands with other athletes worldwide to support the Beja people in the southern parts of Egypt and Sudan.

During my trip, I’ve noticed that the Beja people are some of the most avoided and neglected people in the world. I had many questions before I committed myself to this charity project, just like many of you may have now. God gave me the privileged to get in touch with the Beja people during my very first visit and I was able to see the need / their situation for myself.

I would like to encourage you to get involved from wherever you are and from any part of the world, by praying for the Beja population. Also pray for the hand selected people worldwide, who are involved towards the same vision, by offering their personal time and who are working amongst the Beja people.

I would also like to ask you to support the athletes (such as myself), with the fundraising S4J projects. With your continuous support these funds will help those living and working amongst the Beja people. Your contribution will also help the Beja people with solutions to their countless medical needs.

I had the privileged not just to witness all this for myself but to be part of the financial donation handover in Egypt’s towards the Beja project. The first Beja S4J donation went towards cataract removal operations. One thing that I know is that they do not have the privilege like me and you to know God as well as we do.
