Mandela Day 2019

Mandela Day 2019

Personal message

USB, USB-ED and IFR staff, students and alumni have come together to celebrate the legacy of Madiba and everything he means to us.

In partnership with Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation, we’ve selected four schools with different needs in and around Cape Town’s Northern suburbs to support on Mandela Day, 18 July.

Utilising the Back-a-Buddy platform and the USB/USB-ED campuses (Bellville and Sandton), we will be collecting donations and staff and student volunteers will distribute these donations to the schools on Mandela day.

The schools are:

Bishop Lavis Primary School: This school consist of 544 learners and they are in need of tennis balls, racquets, tennis socks and clothes.

Alpha in Durbanville: This school, with 942 learners, require with vests or t-shirts for boys and girls to wear under their school clothes to keep warm during the winter. The learners also need rain jackets.

Attie van Wyk in Durbanville: This school consist of 295 learners and they require painting of educational messages on their walls.

Scottsville in Kraaifontein: This primary school is in need of stationery, like pens, pencils, coloured pencils, for its pupils.
