My name is Marchelle, Lake, 26. I reside in Cape Town and currently work as a Physiotherapist.
My quest is to raise funds for the cost of processing blood and blood products. My inspiration for doing this was the passing of Ty Moore as I was his Physio. Without the 250units of blood he received he would have not lived a day beyond his accident.
Funds will go directly to the Western Cape Blood Service. This will assist the NPO with the processing of blood products and the costs involved in running more clinics.
Ty Moore was a true Warrior, the most incredible husband and father, the best son and brother, the coolest nephew and cousin and a loyal friend to everyone.
Ty fought the hardest battle of his life following an off-road motorbike accident. A catastrophic abdominal injury left him in the hospital for 5 months. Sadly complications arose and his body could no longer fight, it had been through way too much. He sadly passed away on 2 October 2018.
We were blessed to have the most incredible medical staff at Blaauberg Netcare Hospital and UCT Private Academic Hospital. The Western Cape Blood Service played a pivotal role in those 5 months. He actively bled for more than 5 weeks and without over 200 units of blood that Ty received, we wouldn’t have been able to cherish our moments together as a family. It was an integral part of Ty's recovery in the beginning and when he needed donor-specific platelets to prevent further bleeding.
With his legacy at heart and true fighting spirit, Ty's family would like to raise awareness and commemorate the #blooddrive101 in his loving memory and honour the most incredible and loved man, TY MOORE
*If you are unable to donate blood please consider donating funds towards this initiative. All funds raised will go directly towards the Western Cape Blood Service.*
