Funding to get to Round Square International Conference

Personal message

My name is Michaela Benade. Durban, Westville

I’ve had the privilege of attending Thomas More College on a scholarship based on my academics, sports and good fellowship award. Since I was little I always had a deep feeling of achieving great things in life and making a difference in the world.

I’m currently in grade 11 and have been invited to take part in the Round Square International Conference held in the UK. This conference consists of development of leadership skills as well as character education and experimental learning. It empowers and challenges students to make a difference in the world.

I am a very diligent and respectful learner who is hard working and puts 100% in everything I do. I’m involved in many community projects such as KZN beach cleanups and I’m currently doing the Presidents Award. I aspire to be an activist when I’m older as I believe the world is capable of change whether that be for climate change or peoples rights.

This conference will help me develop the skills I need and take me out of my comfort zone which is needed in order to create progress. I understand Covid-19 has affected many families and that fundraisers are the last thing on peoples minds so I appreciate any donations. Unfortunately there is a specific amount needed in order to take part in Round Square.

These funds will go towards the actual conference, accommodation, activities, food and travel.

This opportunity is very rare and would be upsetting not to involve myself because of finances. Determination and generosity are key elements in order for this opportunity to see through.

So I wish everyone well and again I thank you for taking the time to read my story.
