Miss Drag South is a national pageant where beautiful and intelligent hopefuls from across the nation compete for the prestigious title of MISS DRAG SOUTH-AFRICA.
It is important to note that Miss Drag South-Africa is much more than just a beauty pageant or modelling competition, as each finalist has to initiate a “Drag with a Purpose Project” to advocate for the advancement of LGBTIQA+ rights and drag culture, as well as serve as agents for change and to uplift their communities by serving as positive role models.
The inaugural pageant hosted by EvH Empire saw educator, Zilin Ayoki crowned in 2017 as their first queen. Followed by Port Elizabeth based entrepreneur, Miss Vicky and the reigning queen activist and teacher Belinda Qaqamba Ka-Fassie. All of the above-mentioned diverse Queens exemplifies the Miss Drag South-Africas’ inclusive ethos of tolerance. And as a result, Miss Drag South-Africa is a pageant for drag queens, genderqueer and trans bodies that have the willingness to make a difference.
