Personal message

Mental Health and Its Demons...

This is Monique Bezuidenhout.

I met her through a mental health clinic due to trauma and PTSD.

She is a beacon of light and a beautiful soul who has endured immense hardship.

Listening to her life story, as well as those of our fellow clinic friends, alongside my own, it's disheartening to see how many people suffer from childhood and adulthood traumas - depression, mania, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and PTSD.

The reason I'm reaching out for help is that many, including Monique and myself, struggle to afford essential medication, especially with rising costs. Our debts have piled up, and medical aid often falls short. It's disheartening that medical aids often don't prioritize mental health.

Additionally, we aim to create a fund to help those without medical aid access psychologists and therapists. Many individuals turn to drugs and alcohol to numb their pain, and some tragically end their lives. I don't want any harm to come to the people I care about, especially Monique. I deeply value our friendship and hate to see her in this difficult situation. Depression is a silent killer, and I've witnessed its effects firsthand.

I'm pleading with you to assist in any way you can, whether it's covering her medication costs or contributing to her daily expenses, even a small amount like R50.

I understand if not everyone can help, but it's worth a try.

Monique, whom I met at a mental health clinic due to trauma and PTSD, is struggling to afford her medication and daily expenses. We're working to establish a fund to help people without medical aid access mental health support. Your contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated in supporting Monique and others dealing with mental health challenges. Depression is a silent but deadly foe, and your help can make a difference.
