Mornay Le Roux is a phenomenal father to three beautiful girls, aged 5, 19 and 26, his pride and joy, their bond unbreakable. A fit, healthy man with a zest for life, it came as a massive shock when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August 2019.

Rocked by the news but determined to put up the best fight possible as the pillar of his tight-knit family, his girls and his parents remaining at the forefront of his focus and reason to go head-on into battle with this horrifically destructive disease.

Headstrong and with life savings to throw at medical bills to cover a liver operation, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and the hospital bills that come with it, Mornay was pronounced as having gone into remission in August 2020 after one hell of a year.

The celebration of this great feat was short-lived. In October 2020 doctors had to break heart-wrenching news to Mornay and his family once more. The news that cancer has raised its ugly head once more; And this time with even more of a vengeance. Spreading into his lymph nodes and liver, attacking his immune system and sapping his energy amidst the already gruelling global pandemic of Covid19, Mornay had little option but to continue to work after the draining of his life savings and loss of income while doing an intensive treatment.

The stressors of having to create an income while in his condition have been incredibly prominent for the family, and Mornay especially so. Recently, specialists in Cape Town managed to successfully remove 2 tumours and Mornay is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy which is making him incredibly ill, making work near physically impossible.

Mornay’s line of work, labour consulting, is dangerous for him with his compromised body and weakened immune system. He cannot go out into the field and be exposed at this point of his treatment. Treatments and medical aid have depleted his life savings and continue to do so as he continues to fight this battle for him and his parents. For his girls. Financial stress is the greatest hurdle on top of this battle at this point.

Mornay is humble, kind, and was reluctant to appeal for any sort of donation, but at this point, it is all we have left. We want to alleviate the financial stresses he faces so he can focus fully on healing, a liver transplant on the cards as a shining beacon of hope for him, his family, his three young girls. His healing is driven by his role as his girl's rock, and the strongest want and need to be around for his people for many more years to come.
