Mphanama: National Majorette Championships 2019

Mphanama: National Majorette Championships 2019

Personal message

My name is Martin Mokwana and I am from Middelburg, Mpumalanga and I am the principal of Mphanama Secondary School

The Mphanama Secondary School is based in the Mhluzi township which is in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. The Drum Majorette team was founded in 2016 by a coach that is a previous learner of another school in the same township. The average age group of the team 14 -16 years of age. The team qualified for the 2018 South African National Majorette Championships held in Oudtshoorn and hey came fouth in their category. They have qualified for the National Championships again in 2019 and they will be traveling to East London for the national championships between the 21st of June to the 25th of June. It is likely that not all 18 team members will be able to travel due to financial difficulties which will affect the performance of the team negatively. This trip is also an eye-opening experience as almost all the learners have never been to the Eastern Cape Province.

The trip is due to take place from 21 to 25 June 2019

The cost breakdown is as follows

Accommodation: R3,500
Transport       : R 2,000
Food       : R   800
Total       : R6,300

Any contribution would be really appreciated.
