Mr South Africa aims to raise funds for the destitute

Personal message

The Western Cape is currently enduring one of the coldest winters together with natural disasters that have propelled severe conidtions towards people's lives, health, living conidtions and assets.

The person who describes the current situation best is Maxine Becket, content producer at News24: "Of course, our hearts go out to those who lost their homes to the brutal fires in Knysna, it's a tragedy and it's sad. Maybe we can't compare the severity of the fires to the storm in Cape Town or the devastation suffered. We can't help everyone. But we do know that some are more "destitute" than others and while some are able to get into their cars and drive to a new beginning others are trying to figure out how they are going to start over, for a third time. Where do we suppose they will go after everything has settled? They do not have insurance to cover them. They do not have a lifeline. They are destitute. Destitute."

Mr South Africa 2017, Habib Noorbhai, would like to help the destitute and aims to raise R1,200,000.00 by the end of June. Once the monies are raised, with the help of an NPO called The Humanitarians, will sustainably distribute the monies raised to the destitute who are in need of warmth, food and shelter.

1. It costs R12 on average for a homeless person to get shelter and meal per night. 30 nights x R12 = R360.

2. One blanket will cost an average of R120 per person.

3. Non-perishable items will cost R100 per person per month.

Help ONE person by donating R600.

Our goal of R1,200,000 will help 2000 destitute people.
