My name is Charlene Fraser (33) and I live in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
I have set up this campaign for my son, Nathaniel.
Nathaniel is a cancer patient and is sadly not on Medical aid and requires a certain medication that is only available on private care.
Nathaniel is an 8-year-old boy who has Stage 2B Osteosarcoma, which is an aggressive Cancer. The chemotherapy for Osteosarcoma is very strong and he gets really really sick and the doctors have advised us of the medicine available in Private Care that will really help him deal with the sickness a bit better, as the violent vomiting causes him not want to eat, he does not want to take his medicine, and has massive anxiety attacks.
Also, He will be transferred to Groote Schuur in Cape Town where the tumor will be removed in his leg, and then the Doctors will see if they are able to do a limb salvage, or if his leg will have to be amputated.
Nathaniel's grandmother will stay with him in Cape Town indefinitely, but I will have to travel between Cape Town and PE as I still need to try work in-between the surgeries in Cape Town, for now, I do not know how long he will stay within Groote Schuur, and the traveling costs would be difficult to carry on my own.
Our timeline for raising funds:
Some Required by August as this is when we will be transferred to Groote Schuur Hospital
The medication required will probably be ongoing as this is only the start of his cancer treatment, so would always need a bit of assistance going forward
Funds will be used for:
Chemotherapy side effects medicine available in Private Care
Nathaniel's Mothers transfer costs between PE and Cape Town during the time Nathaniel is admitted in Cape Town
With this medication, Nathaniel will be able to handle the side effects a lot better as the violent vomiting causes a big chain reaction whereby he has massive anxiety attacks, does not want to eat or consume his medicine, overall, with the help of this medicine he can still maintain to be a happy child coping with his sickness, and he would be so happy to have his mother and granny with him whilst admitted to Groote Schuur, even If I can not be with him the whole period, at least come up to him in Cape Town once a week
The Medication payments will gladly be paid to Provincial Hospital in Port Elizabeth as they will order this medication for him
IF there were excess, I would need assistance from some of the funds to go towards my travel expenses to Cape Town and back
*BackaBuddy will pay funds raised directly to the hospital*
