Help with school fees for a deserving kid
Hi, I'm Vibeke. I live in Cape Town with my husband and two children. I'm setting up this campaign on behalf of Vuyiswa Mkhango, who is our housekeeper and carer.
Vuyiswa lives in a flatlet on our property with her two sons. We are looking for help in respect of her youngest son Ndivelele (7).
Ndivelele was originally staying with his aunt in the rural Eastern Cape but by age 4 it became apparent that he was being neglected, left alone all night, not fed enough.... Vuyiswa and I arranged for him to come to stay with us and he arrived in January this year.
Our neighbourhood has a very well-respected Government school, Sweet Valley Primary. It is highly sought after and not easy to get into.
When the time came for me to apply for my daughter to be admitted to grade 1, I also applied for Ndivelele on the off chance that we would be lucky and get him in. We were so happy and surprised to learn that he has been given a place.
We are looking for help to cover Ndivelele's school fees and uniform expenses for the coming year starting January 2024. The monthly school fees are ZAR3300 (South African Rand), which at the time of writing this is US$170/ EUR162/ GBP139 per month.
We live in one of the most unequal countries in the world, where my kids get to attend world-class schools with incredible facilities, while underpriveledged children receive a vastly inferior education with few opportunities resulting.
