My name is Nicole and I own a small CMT/factory. I would like to raise funds to be able to provide school pupils and teachers with masks, in their eventual return back to teaching.
At a cost of just R12, we are able to cover one pupil or teacher.
In just 1 suburb in Cape Town (Mitchells Plain), there are 85 public schools. With an average of 1000 pupils and 35 teachers, the scale of what is required seems almost impossible.
This will be an ongoing project as we grow to be able to cover more and more schools and their pupils.
This pandemic is also a great opportunity to be able to create sustainable jobs by recruiting machinists and doing our bit to restore the clothing and textile industry in South Africa. I currently do have an all women staff compliment. This campaign is, therefore, beneficial for both job creation and doing our bit for school kids.
By providing these masks, we can assist in creating a safer classroom environment in underprivileged schools.
The funds are required for the following:
- materials (fabric & elastic)
- staff wages
- delivery to schools
Note: Until finalization of school re-opening, masks will be handed out at various soups kitchens.
