Help a cerebral palsied child get to school

Personal message

My daughter, son and I live in Pretoria.

Our car was involved in a car accident last Thursday. We do not have car insurance as we cannot afford it. My daughter Nqobile is six years old and had been diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy, and is unable to walk.

She attends a special needs school and the school has equipment for her to borrow during the day so we leave her wheelchair at home. She has a brother who is also in primary school in a different direction from her school. The local taxis are not wheelchair friendly and the buses do not travel my little girl's school route.

We have no choice but to leave her wheelchair home and carry her to the taxi. The taxi drops us a distance from her school and we need to carry her and walk there, then we walk another direction to her brother's school and then another direction to my workplace. The same process is repeated in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, people in the taxi are not educated about the disorder and believe that it is contagious. They do not want to sit next to Nqobile.

We would appreciate any donation towards fixing the car, we would also accept required car body parts.

*Funds raised will go directly to the mechanic*
