Operation Free the Courteney

Personal message

Before we go any further- I need to make something very clear. I love my body. I love me, who I am and who being fat has made me. As difficult as it is for some to believe. Wanting to get the Gastric Bypass has absolutely nothing to do with my appearance- I mean, have you seen me??? I'm so close to perfect, it hurts. I radiate beauty, both inside and out.

Basically- I have reached the age where being as big as I am is not just a battle of me against society anymore. It is now a case of do I want to die young from the complications of being obese?
The reason for me wanting this surgery runs far deeper than “wanting to be a skinny human”. This surgery is a way for me to gain the health benefits that I have been desperately chasing.

For me, losing weight is not as simple as some think it to be. When I was 17 I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. The exact cause of PCOS is unknown. This means that no matter what I try- my hormones just refuse to play game.

The gastric bypass has been shown to be one of the most successful ways to lose weight and keep it off for individuals suffering from PCOS
If you wish to read up more on PCOS this is a great link.
