Paris African Book Fair

Paris African Book Fair

Personal message

Mishca Peters and Sibabalwe Ncedo, two second year students have recently received great news. La Colonie, an artistic space in Paris, France has invited us to present our literary work at this year's Africas Art Book Fair, from the 18th to 21st October 2018. This years theme is publication as an act of resistance it resonates with the history of our campus and the coursework of our discipline as dedicated history students.

Personally, we both revere the strength of our people that is revealed through the study of our past, which has made it an enormously influencing factor in our decision to engage in its discourse. To be able to represent South Africa as young academic writers, among other countries such as Brazil and Cuba, would be a remarkable honour beyond anything we could have imagined. The two of us met the beginning of this year in history class because of our shared interest and passion for it. La Colonie have been gracious enough to cover the flight ticket and accommodation costs of one person.

Unfortunately, we both come from disadvantaged backgrounds and are unable to cover the rest of the costs ourselves, which is why we thought this platform would be the best way to try to get assistance. we are also planning fundraisers in the form of a movie night and book sale.  We have both worked hard together in our studies and projects, we just have to try our best to make this a reality. Thank you.
