Opportunity to study in Italy

Opportunity to study in Italy

Personal message

My name is Pauline Noko, I am 30 years of age and I grew up in Soweto. Like any child I had hopes and dreams to have a profession and be successful, and it didn’t take much time to realise my love for art and fashion.

After completing matric in Soweto, I worked at various jobs ranging from promotions, grocery packer, waitress etc. although I knew my interest was in the fashion business. I had the pleasure of being part of a government annual initiative project in 2012 by making and donating school uniforms to 250 school kids from underprivileged backgrounds.

In 2013, as my first steps toward launching my career in fashion, through a NSFAS loan, I completed a National Fashion Design Diploma at the University of Johannesburg.

Now, I am pleased to be one of a few to be accepted to study in one of the fashion capitals of the world. In previous years the classes at the Milano Fashion Institute have comprised of less than 2% of people from the Africa. I am immensely proud to have been granted a partial scholarship to this fine institution.
