Personal message

My twin brother, Pc Botha, 32 years of age has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a very young age of 12. For 20 years he has struggled emensly with diabetes, in and out of hospitals.

He is currently in hospital now, being treated for Wounds on his feet, caused by burns due to neuropathy as well as wounds on his left hand. These Wounds have had a great impact on his life and his health. He lost his job about 8 months ago, having no sort of income or medical aid. His health suffered a major setback in these 8 Months which now resulted in him having to get care when he is discharged from hospital, whenever that will be. He will also need to get rehabilitation after his long sick bed.  The previous time that he was admitted it was for 3 Months.

With shock and heartache we discovered that he has less than 50% function in his liver. He is also diagnosed with Kidney Failure, Heart Failure and has water on his lungs due to his weakened heart.

We as a family are doing everything in our power to support him physically, emotionally and financially, but it has been tough and it will keep continuing being tough. The road ahead is uncertain for us but we walk by faith.

It is hard for me to see my brother going through all of this at such a young age with his whole life ahead of him.

It will be a great privilege and relief for us if we could get him placed in a care facility for now, where he could get the correct care from professionals as well as get on the correct diet which is from utmost importance for a diabetic. We have hope through doing this we will add to his life and give him a change to a longer life.  All of this is very costly and we as a family are so dependent on donations.

We would really appreciate even the smallest donation and every little bit will help in a big way to help and improve his life.

All funds raised will go to paying the care facility and also to medical care and necessities he may need now and in the future.
