My name is Alex Nkholkise. I am raising funds for Philix Giguda, who is a 30-year-old royal high born from Tanzania living in Cape Town, South Africa.
He lives in a Shelter and works as a street performer in a tourist attraction "Company Garden", which is where I met him. Following our acquaintance, I was intrigued by his tribal appearance and humility. This led me to ask him if I could shoot a short documentary about his life, that's when he revealed everything about himself.
Philix comes from a village that still upholds its customs and ancestral beliefs. Like many royal-blood born before him, He was forced to leave his home and come to a foreign country as part of his initiation preparation of becoming a ruler for his people. This main task has a duration of 7 years in which many more tasks from ancestors must be done too. After 7 years of living in South Africa, he has successfully completed his task and is ready to go home. The crowdfunding is to cover transportation to return back home.
Despite residing in a modernized Capital City, Philix strongly upholds his customs and cultural traditions. Every day you will see him wearing Maasai tribal clothes while also performing daily routines he grew up with. This makes it evident how much he loves his roots and what it would mean to once again set foot where he belongs.
Philix is a kindhearted, free-spirited human being that puts others' needs before his at all costs. He has been a servant to all for too long now, it's time that we help him get back home.
So far we've raised R4 000 for transportation costs and food. A flight from Cape Town, South Africa to Tanzania Kilimanjaro International airport cost around R9 000. We short with R5 000 to cover his flight ticket and transportation cost to his village once he lands in Tanzania.
