My name is Piet Makhabanyane and I am raising funds for myself. I am 33 years old and currently a student at UNISA.
I am hoping to raise at least R7000 to settle my outstanding student fees for 2019 at Unisa to Graduate in PGCE Inter & Senior Phase GR4-9. I did my GR-6 alone at Carolinah farm in the Vrystaat in 1999. Since most female peers fell pregnant and boys were forced to assist their aged farther's on the farms.
I'll be able to graduate in Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Intermediate & Senior GR4-9 specialising in Maths, Science and Technology GR4-9. I had been paying my fees since 2017 and dropped out due to lack of finances, but pushed on again in 2018 with seven modules passed. I completed my last six-modules in 2019 in chunks since I could afford to pay in chunks. I believe I passed the six-modules now but due to my current outstanding fees, I would not be able to start Teaching in 2020.
My mother (Single parent) of 6-Kids, where I'm the only child to have completed Matric and University, has always raised us with her 'Permanent Disability Grant' since 1994. I'm hopeless since NSFAS declined 3rd-year students over 1st year in 2010. I've been struggling, but look how far I went and this is the 1st time I'm sharing my reality, my struggle filled with sorrow, and hopelessness in my world.
Her support has kept moving me till this point and I wish not to disappoint her before her grave... Telling my story has made me realise the long years I'll have to cry again when forced to look back at her warm heart and struggle.
Last time I saw my father was when I was 5-years-old (1990) in Kloof Mine Western area where I was born. He was a Miner from Lesotho. My mother moved homes from Free State farms and came to Gauteng as a kitchen girl before her sickness began. My father wrote us a letter in 1996 that he loved me but... I'm a single male with no kid at all, I think I failed to understand what LOVE really is and the country's LOVE is.
ALL SINGLE MOTHER'S of the late centuries, you're a special breed, meticulous and particular in your love to your Kids.
Last six-modules I incurred an outstanding balance of R7000 which I've already finished their exams 04 November 2019. I have been paying from my pocket as a gardener, but this is how far I am.
Funds raised will be paid directly to the relevant institution.
