Personal message

Please help us fund the kennel costs for the next six months.

The rescue started 8 years ago using fosters homes.  We now rent kennels where we can house up to 60 dogs at any given time as well as having additional older dogs, or dogs with special requirements in foster homes. We take in dogs surrendered for various reasons including families emigrating, moving to old age homes or complexes that are not pet friendly, death of owners, changes of personal circumstances and many other reasons. We also offer safe haven to strays and dogs from puppy mills who are no longer wanted.

We work hard to try to get every dog adopted into a loving home once strict checks have been done.

All dogs are sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped as soon as soon as they come into our care. The dogs often require further medical care including dentals.

Our monthly expenses are in excess R 50,000 excluding vet bills. The monthly costs include the rentals of the kennels, kennel staff wages, dog food, F10 disinfectant and general cleaning supplies, tick and flea treatment, air time / data for kennel staff, general medication and various other sundries that are required to run rescue kennels. We do not receive any government funding and rely completely on donations to keep the rescue running.

We find that many of the dogs that come to us have bad teeth that affect their quality of life, and we cannot turn our back on ensuring that they do receive the necessary medical treatment to ensure that they can live pain free. Dogs that have been breed continuously at puppy mills until they are too weak to continue, often need months of medical care to get their health back to what it should be. The adoption fee only covers basic sterilization and vaccinations, we rely on donations to pay for all other treatments required by our dogs. The vet bill of Maltese, French Poodle & Yorkie Rescue South Africa very rarely drops below R30,000 and can go up to as much as R50,000 depending on the volume of incoming dogs and their veterinary needs.

We are looking for funding for the next 6 months to cover our kennel rental, kennel staff wages and other kennel costs so we can direct all our adoption fees directly into our vet account.

Please help us rewrite the future of all the dogs that come into our care, every donation helps make a difference.
