Project Namuhla Walk in supporting “SA Women Fight Back”

Personal message

My name is Leilani Kuter (45) - Gauteng. I have finished a 729km walk in 2019 and I have raised R250 000 during my walk. I have donated funds to 6 different organizations who are dealing with rape and gender-based violence victims. I have also donated funds to a couple on Jacaranda FM.

This year marks 28 years of survival after I was brutally raped and left for dead on 16 September 1992. Speaking up and sharing my story to inspire other victims to live their lives has been a big part of my healing in the wake of this horrifying incident.

Since my 2019 walk, I have decided to do dedication walks, meaning I am walking for other survivors. I have so far done a 35km, 30km, 28km and a 12km walk for 4 different survivors.

As part of my dedication walks I will be walking 50km on 7 March from Clearwater Mall to the Cradle of Mankind in support of the SA Women Fight Back petition handed over to President Rhamaposa on 6 March.

My goal is to raise R50 000 towards the NPO, Yellow For Survivors Fund which was founded in providing financial aid to organizations that dedicate their time to improving the lives of rape survivors.

Supporting Project Namuhla gives me the opportunity to help give the voiceless a voice, I have done many dedications walks for women. This 50 km walk is for women in their seventies and eighties who were raped fifty years ago and never had the guts to speak out. Projects like these help to give them their power back.

Please help make a difference by donating to this walk!

You are welcome to email [email protected] should you have any questions or wants to make an offline donation. Your offline donation will be added to the barometer.

Companies will get a Section18A certificate from the selected NGO's.

More about SA Women Fight Back and #projectnamuhla

On the 6th March, SA Women Fight Back is handing in a petition of over 500 000 signatures reminding President Ramaphosa of the promises he made to the people of South Africa 6 months ago, to protect our women and children against the scourge of Gender-Based Violence.

They will be hosting a mass march in Cape Town City Centre on the 7th March to announce the handing in of the petition and to demand answers and progress reports.

SA Women Fight Back will be leading a non-violent, collaborative engagement to combat gender-based violence and hold government and other authorities accountable for the safety, empowerment, equality, and justice for all.
