Prosthetic Leg for Yasmin

Prosthetic Leg for Yasmin

Personal message

I am writing this message to respectfully ask for your financial assistance to help pay for a much needed prosthetic right leg for myself.

My name is Yasmin, I am a 43 year old female residing in the Norther Cape and a single parent of 3 sons. In December 2016, I lived and worked in Johannesburg and was diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), narrowing of the arteries to the legs, which resulted in blood clots.

I was admitted to the government hospital Baragwanath for 4 months and underwent 4 bypass surgery on my leg which was unsuccessful. Surgeons amputated my leg twice as this dreadful disease started to spread up my leg. It was painful and agonizing being hospitalized and bedridden for 4 months. Being on morphine everyday helped me get through.

I gave up hope mentally but had to maintain my sanity for my 3 boys that are still schooling. I was discharged in April 2017, and currently live with my 76 year old mom and get by with a walking aid.

My health is not 100%, I go for physio to the government hospital and am determent to get back on my feet, seek employment and take advantage of living a normal life despite being an amputee.

I applied for a prosthetic leg through the medical system and know that there is an indefinite waiting period. Paying bills and being Dependant on my mom is my constant worry.

Thank you for reading my plea.
