Tombstone for baby Reaces

Tombstone for baby Reaces

Personal message

Hi, my name is Danie and I'm from Gansbaai, Western Cape.

I have a friend in need of help. His name is Rory Petzer. We used to be colleagues in the South African Police Service for several years. Rory was left disabled after an attack on him which left him partly paralyzed and unemployed. What we need help with is the following. Rory lost his baby daughter Reace after she was born prematurely.

Reace was born on the 14th of January 2021, 8 weeks premature. She sadly passed away in May, before they were able to place her onto their funeral policy.  Living off a government grant, Rory, his wife, also unemployed, and his son were unable to erect a tombstone on the grave after the funeral.

Rory had to use his pension money and with the help of friends and family to buy the burial plot for Reace. The cost for a tombstone is around R6000. They are unable to come up with the money for something like this on their own and with the current affairs in our country, the possibility of saving up for this is becoming more difficult or impossible by the day.

They are obviously still very emotional and no one can describe the loss of a child. I know that it would give them peace if they could have a tombstone on the grave. I would like to ask then if there was anyone who would be able to contribute towards this in order to give them the peace they need.

Thank you.
