Personal message

Our baby girl, Zayaan Oostendorp, was born with Langer's Mesomalic Dysplasia (An absence of bones) with her legs specifically diagnosed as Bilaterial Fibular Hemimelia, in short, a shortened or missing fibular.
We were advised by SA’s top 10 pediatric orthopedic surgeons that the only solution is to amputate both my baby’s her feet by performing bilateral Symes amputation and prosthetics used instead. We could not accept that cutting off 2 feet with 10 wiggling toes as the only solution!
Unfortunately, this is what many families in South Africa is facing at the moment,
After much research, we have found a Doctor in the USA. Dr. Paley, who runs the Paley Institute, (https://paleyinstitute.org/blog/conditions/fibular-hemimelia/), who, after examining all her x-rays has advised that he will be able to help her without having to amputate her feet! What a relief!

Knowing that Zayaan will eventually be able to walk, run, play on her own 2 feet is nothing short of a miracle!
We now face a different sort of challenge though. The surgeries can only be performed in either the USA or Poland, with an estimated cost for the first round of surgeries projected @ R2.8 million excluding Traveling, accommodation and living expenses in a foreign country for 6 weeks.

We have established a non-profit organization called Zayaan Charity Centre. After we have raised the funds needed for her, our future goal is to help other parents with kids in a similar condition in need of funds. Please show us some love and invite your friends and family to help make her dreams a reality

To help making this dream become a reality our family will run or walk 1km for every R20 donation made.

Thank you for taking time to read

Help Zayaan walk, run, play

Zayaan Oostendorp was born with Langer’s Mesomalic Dysplasia with her legs specifically diagnosed with Bilateral Fibular Hemimelia . Her team of doctors in SA recommended amputation and prosthesis.

Dr Paley who runs The Paley institute is the only hospital who is able to help her walk again. Unfortunately the operations can only be performed in Florida USA and will  cost +- $200 000 (+- R3 million) for the 1st round of surgeries to rectify her ankle to the correct angle, lengthen her shortened limbs and physiotherapy thereafter.

We humbly request your assistance with raising the funds to make this a reality for her.
