Running for Hillcrest AIDS

Running for Hillcrest AIDS

Personal message

In 2017 when my sister passed away suddenly, we were all left reeling in shock. My sister had always led an active life and was my greatest supporter of everything that I did. I could always count on her to be at the finish line of every race or random competition that I did. Two years have passed since she was here on earth and I have decided to run my first marathon in honor of my sister and the causes that were important to her. I have chosen the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, as my charity due to the work that they do in helping and empowering those living with HIV. The work they do in tackling the HIV/AIDS health crisis head-on is inspiring and necessary for South Africa. This is a cause especially important to me as I am currently completing my Masters in Virology specializing in pediatric HIV diagnostics. I have been greatly humbled in seeing first hand how little is known about HIV and how it is all of our responsibility to ensure that no one should ever perish from HIV infection.
