Hi everyone

My name is Taylea, I live in Sea Point and I am reaching out on behalf of Siya Zimoshile. Siya is 44 years old, a security guard in my building and a friend and he needs our help. Before we get to that, let me tell you a bit more about the kind of person you would be helping.

Siya goes above a beyond to keep our building and all its residents safe. Not only is he our security guard but on his off days, Siya maintains our gardens as well to do his best to provide for his family. Siya has a wife and 4 children, the youngest of whom is only 5 years old.

Now when I say above and beyond… I truly mean it. Recently we had a fire in our apartment building, that started due to an unattended stove being left on and forgot about during load shedding. One of our of other fearless security guards who was off duty at the time, saw the smoke and alerted Siya. Siya called the fire department and whilst we awaited their arrival, Siya began trying to evacuate our 14 story which included many children and elderly and headed straight into the apartment the fire was in and began fighting the blaze.

Not only was he incredibly brave and selfless but calm and collected as well as he did his best to ensure all residents were safe. Without Siya and the remarkable efforts of him and his fellow guards and maintenance man, the damage to persons and property could have been so much greater.

Siya helped us and our building in ways we will be forever indebted. Now Siya needs our help. Siya was here at work when he got an incredibly distraught call from his wife alerting him that their home in an informal settlement near Hout Bay where they have lived for almost 20 years had been demolished by the city of Cape Town. Leaving him and his family in absolute dire straits. Even more disheartening is that Siya had recently invested more money to make the house bigger, to make more space for his 4 children. All the whilst keeping our building and home safe this was happening to his.

So I am turning to you kind and generous people of the internet to help Save Brave Siya and his family by helping him rebuild his home.

He needs R20 000 to rebuild his home and every little bit will help to get his family in a better space ahead of the upcoming cold winter.
