Say No to Xenophobia

Say No to Xenophobia

Personal message

I am Zikhali Sharon, a concerned South African citizen who believes that everyone in South Africa, whether you are South Africa or not are entitled to human rights, protection, safety and to be treated with dignity.

Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu - we are who we are because of others!

On 2 September 2019, violent xenophobic attacks were launched against foreign nationals, mainly in Johannesburg CBD, Pretoria CBD, Malvern, Germiston and Kempton.

As a result of the attacks, thousands of foreign nationals were chased from their homes and places of business. Homes, businesses and vehicles owned by foreign nationals were destroyed. A number of foreign nationals were burnt alive and subsequently died as a result of the xenophobic attacks.

The purpose of this campaign is to make it clear that we as South Africans abide by our Constitution and condemn these acts of violence perpetrated by a handful of people and that we will not allow them to paint South Africa as a xenophobic and violent country.

South Africans are well known for their hospitality and we should maintain this at all times.

The funds raised will be donated to the Adonis Musati Project and the United Nations Refugee Agency. Both organizations provide vital assistance to refugees and foreign nationals that have been the subject of xenophobic attacks. As a result of the recent Xenophobic attacks thousands of foreign nationals, including mothers and their children have been forcibly displaced and are left vulnerable, without any shelter, food and support.

The funds will be donated to the Adonis Musati Project and the United Nations Refugee Agency. The Adonis Musati Project seeks to empower marginalised refugees and migrants in South Africa through fostering sustainable support networks and encouraging personal development that achieves lasting change.

The goal is to offer assistance in areas where there is a real and present need among forcibly displaced people and where other agencies are not present.

The donations will enable the United Nations Refugee Agency and the Adonis Musati Project with economic means of providing support, shelter, food and clothing to the victims of the recent xenophobic attacks.

Please support and follow our progress here.

*The funds will be donated to the United Nations Refugee Agency and Adonis Musati Project.*
