Off the street

Off the street

Personal message

My name is Sanele Shabalala, I am 28 years old and live in KZN(KWADUKUZA). I saw a group of young kids playing with bicycles on the road and realized that it is not safe for them to be on the road. Being a competitive cyclist myself I approached the children to teach them about safety on the roads.

This encounter inspired me to create an academy that teaches young children about cycling and the industry that surrounds it.

We currently have nine members in our program. One of whom was selected to race in the 2020 ABSA Cape Epic. A seven day international mountain bike stage race.

I am crowd funding for the Shakaskraal Cycling Academy. We are an organisation with the aim of keeping underprivileged children off the streets by introducing them to the sport of cycling.

Cycling will teach our kids the importance of hard work and dedication that will benefit them long after they graduate from our program.

The equipment purchased with the funds raised will go a long way to keeping underprivileged kids off the streets and focused on a healthy activity.

The friends and connections they make will benefit their future should they decide to seek a career in the cycling industry.
