Help Shylo Kick Cancer's Ass!

Personal message

Shylo is my beautiful 11-year young White German Shepherd Child. Everyone who knows me knows that she is my world, and everyone who has been privileged enough to meet my precious angel, knows what an amazing, gentle, loving soul she is. Even people who don’t like dogs love her, she is just one of a kind, beautiful inside and out.

Shylo went for surgery on the 5th of December 2018, after the vet felt a lump, and he removed a tumour along with her right anal gland. A biopsy confirmed that is was anal sac adenocarcinoma, which is a very aggressive cancer that spreads fast. However, a couple of weeks after her surgery, a CT scan and ultrasound showed no signs that the cancer had spread. We were truly grateful for this and I did my research, immediately changed their diet to raw food & veggies, started using supplements such as C-Caps (herbal cancer-fighting), golden paste with turmeric & organic coconut oil, Omega 3, CBD oil etc. etc. etc.

She was doing great! I took her for check-ups every 3 months. At the end of August, the vet once again did a thorough examination and there were no lumps or any other concerns. He was so impressed at how healthy she was and how great she was doing, that he said I only needed to take her for her next check-up in 6 months (which would have been in March 2020). I check her on a regular basis myself, feeling for any lumps or bumps, and on the 18th of November 2019, I felt a lump where the tumour was previously removed. Thinking it could perhaps just be scar tissue from the previous surgery, I decided to take her to the vet just to make sure.
After the examination, the vet confirmed that it was indeed a re-growth of the tumour, and suggested to remove it ASAP, before it got any bigger, which would make it more difficult to remove due to the location of the tumour.

Unfortunately, with her surgery on the 25th of November, he was unable to remove the entire tumour, since it went to too deep and could become too dangerous to remove without any complications. The biopsy confirmed what we were fearing: sadly, the cancer is back.

Despite the fact that she has cancer, she is healthy, happy, playful, does not have pain aside from the surgeries, eats well, and most importantly, she is loved dearly. She is living a beautiful, great life at the young age of 11 years, and she has more energy than my other fur-child – Kylie, who is nearly half her age!

We now have a long road ahead of us… I am currently busy with extensive research on canine cancer and reading a book called “The Dog Cancer Survival Guide” – which is very insightful and helpful in many ways to help me decide which treatment options would be best for her. The vet bills are once again starting to pile up. I have spent over R30K on her surgeries, scans and treatments over the past 12 months.

THIS is now the time for me to put my pride in my pocket and reach out for help…
As you can imagine, any treatment for cancer is very expensive, and we have a lot more scans, tests, and treatments to do. I am taking her to an oncologist and I want to get the best possible treatment for my angel, that would be the best for her, without affecting her life quality, because she truly deserves the best! She is a fighter, a warrior, and stronger than me in many ways. She certainly has not given up, and we can fight this horrible disease with her and help her kick cancer’s ass!

Any and all donations will help pay for all her tests, treatments and supplements. Every bit will help, and we would truly appreciate every single donation, from the bottom of our hearts.
I never thought I would have to ask people at random for money, but I am willing to do anything to help Shylo - my best friend who’s been by my side, showering me with unconditional love for the past 11 years, and hopefully, with your help, for a few more years. She is not just a pet, she is my child.
Lots of love and gratitude from me, Shylo and Kylie xxx
