SINCE I AM FEELING HAPPY NPC is a nonprofit company that is embarking on a 6 months initiative called Puisan ocirc; which will be activated in Ramatlabama in the North West Province. Puisanô [lit.: conversation] seeks to be a vehicle of change and advances towards the art of storytelling as a holistic culture using filmmaking as a development tool within society and take indigenous culture to the fore front. Unemployed youth will be given skills in the video and filmmaking fraternity to create short films that will be addressing the cultural and social issues. Puisanô’s mandate is to create a platform that will not only give unemployed youth skills but help them to create job opportunities for themselves.
SINCE I AM FEELING HAPPY wants to endure on an expedition of skills transfer, aspiration, inspiration, and realization of filmmaking as a source of income without forgetting to use it as a weapon to fight social ills, poverty and sustaining our culture. SINCE I AM FEELING HAPPY wants to champion the youth in the right direction of self-creation of sustaining families
And having a voice in social creation.
Puisanô’s first phase will be in North West in a municipality called Ngaka Modiri Molema. We are going to cast upon youth in the surrounding populace for 6 months. The skills set which will be taught will be animation, graphic design, producing, editing and directing. These skills will enable the youth to create their own content for the masses, viewed at film festivals and it will be sold to broadcasters. A platform for the youth to self-sustain themselves and their families.
Puisanô wants to be a tool that the youth will use to create jobs for themselves and their communities. It seeks to use art as a mechanism for transformation and learning tool to elevate the community.
Nurturing the seed: engaging and supporting youth and families by helping them to create instead of relying upon. Forging creatives mind and a platform to tell the untold stories of our people. Showcasing that Africa is a shrine when it comes to stories and evolution.
