Siyabonga Children’s Home (Germiston) was founded 30 years ago by Manuel and Lorraine Ribeiro and has taken in over 150 children. Their journey began as foster parents in 1988, when after taking in their first foster child, they were approached by Child Welfare to take in several more. Several years later, the Ribeiro property was donated to the Siyabonga Children's Home Trust and subsequent fundraising efforts culminated into the construction of the Home, which has been increased over the years to its current capacity of housing 36 children. A Board of Directors and auditors was appointed to oversee the Trust.
