My name is Sonja Smith, and I am 30 years old. I have been diagnosed with kidney failure.
At the beginning of May 2019, I went through a bid shock that changed my life. I stopped breathing, my lungs filled with water and my kidneys stopped working. I was in a coma for more than two months.
Since then I have been in and out and out of hospital. Every day is a battle with symptoms such as dizziness, instability and nausea. I need to go for dialysis three times a week where two needles are inserted into my AV fistula.
The waiting list for a donor is about 8 years. As you all can imagine, there is are lot of tests that need to be done and they are quite expensive. I would love to receive a kidney so life can go back to being more normal.
Reaching my target will relieve a lot of my stress.
