Sponsor a widows journey from grief to empowerment

Personal message

The WEP as healing and empowerment initiative was prompted by seeing the plight of widows especially in townships and rural areas. It started as a book writing exercise, yet to be publishe whereby widows were interviewed with the intention of relieving their pain and sorrow by speaking about their loss. In the process of their interviews it came clear that just sharing their experiences only was not enough, to bring a complete healing, hence the establishment of the Widows Empowerment Program.

The WEP is a newly established Non Profit Company (NPC), founded in 2017 by Dr. Nomfundo Mali & Mrs. Balungile Sakasa-Mini. Amogst other things the WEP's Mission is to provide a space for sharing experiences, grieve, crying and comforting each other, protection of vulnerable widows as well as space for personal growth empowerment.

The main vision of this program is to improve the quality of life for widows and their children through initiating sustainable programs within their communities such as sewing, knitting, gardening, health and wellness programs, cooking classes and other recreational activities. it will ensure that unemployed social workers and legal practitioners are utilized to the benefit of the society as well their career enhancement.
