Please Help Stout - The Legend

Personal message

Please help us raise R60,000 for the ongoing treatment of Stout's condition.

It has been over 3 months and after huge expense, exhaustion of his medical aid cap, visits to many vets, specialists and surgeons who have conducted blood tests, scans, x-rays, biopsies, other tests and an operation have only just diagnosed Stout's condition which is affecting his liver and intestines. The condition cannot be cured but can be managed with ongoing treatment. Despite losing weight, he is now stabilised and is still happy and not in pain.

Some Stout Facts:

  • Stout is a 7 year old Cape Town Adventure guide and has brought joy to 100's of tourists, travellers and locals while on hikes, trail runs, mountain bike trips and stand up paddle board adventures.
  • He is well known throughout many of Cape Town's Dog friendly restaurants and parks where people ask after him if he's not around.
  • He has done community service in the townships of Alex, Soweto and Nieu Bethesda where he has taught children and the owners of animals that a dog can be a respected friend and should not be wired to a pole outside their homes for protection. This interaction has resulted in an annual dog trick competition in Nieu Bethesda.
  • He has helped foster many township puppies and kittens for African Tails until they find new homes.
  • He has also been a companion to orphaned children at an orphanage in Hillbrow on Mandela Day.
  • He has spent many days at The Waterfall Retirement Estate where he brought joy and companionship to old people who refer to him as the Gentleman Dog. He lets old ladies through doors first and is extremely gentle with them while on a lead.
  • He has done numerous adverts and was the star of the show in 6 out of 12 episodes on the Kyk Net Show filmed by Homebrew Studios called "Hond Se Gedagtes"
  • He has participated in a number of mountain and beach cleanups. He knows exactly what his job entails and collects litter from hard to reach places.
  • He was an active member of The FBC running Club where his running prowess shone through with podium finishes in the Merrell 8km Night Series and other sporting events.
  • Within minutes, he grasped the concept of Giant Jenga and had to be involved. He played without collapsing the tower. See Stout Jenga on his Instagram.
  • Many of his family and breed work in the rhino protection units in the Kruger National Park and at Madikwe Game Reserve where he has spent time as a guide with guests on their bush-walks, runs and mountain bike adventures.

From the above you will note that Stout is an exceptional boy. He is beyond bright with a level of intelligence, understanding and empathy that many people are amazed by. This has resulted in his many friends and followers around the world. As his followers or new fans, we hope that you are able to support him in any way that you can.

Please follow Stout on Instagram and Facebook to see his progress and future adventures.

We have already spent in excess of R50,000 to diagnose the underlying cause of Stout's condition and Ascites symptoms. Sadly his ongoing treatment is extremely costly at around R8,000 per month which entails regular vet visits, normal and traditional medicine as well as a special diet. Stout is only 7 years old and the treatment is definitely worth pursuing so that he can continue to add value to people's and pet's lives as he has done in the past.

In the event of a recovery or worse case scenario, any remaining funds will be donated to The Green Dogs Charity. They use The Belgian Malinois Dog highly successfully in their anti rhino poaching operations and are doing amazing work in protecting our Wildlife.

Thank You for your support, for spreading the word or for just being a fan of Stout-Legend.
