Support for Disabled Refugee, Mr N

Support for Disabled Refugee, Mr N

Personal message

Mr N is a refugee who fled Burundi with his wife and two small children after his parents and siblings were killed and he was shot and his leg chopped off. He feels very lucky to be alive and that his wife and kids survived too.

However there is sadly little to no support for disabled refugees in this position. Mr N suffers from depression and anxiety due the past trauma. Unable to find employment in SA and with the ever looming threat of xenophobia this family are really suffering. They cannot make rent, their kids cannot afford to go to school and they are always hungry.
Mr N has also tried to investigate getting a prosthetic leg but has had no joy in the public sector and cannot afford private care.

We would very much like to raise up a lump sum to help empower this family to stand on their own.

We have a few ideas to help them start up a small business and potentially move to a shelter for disabled refugees however immediate needs include covering at least 2 to 3 months rent and food while a way forward is carved out.

We very much appreciate every contribution received and we hope we can alleviate the suffering this family has and still is enduring.
