Save Our Swim Coaches

Personal message

The effect of COVID-19 on our Sport has had a devastating effect on the future of aquatics. Club swimming, the main feeding ground for our future and development of swimmers, is in danger of being destroyed by the pandemic in the fact that many of our coaches have experienced a total loss of income due to the lockdown. Club coaches are solely dependent on coaching fees for a living. Loss of income has a knock-on effect as these coaches are forced to close down their clubs and look for other avenues of income. This, in turn, will stagnate the development of our sport throughout South Africa from grassroots level to possible future Olympic contenders.

If we accomplish our goal it will assist our coaches in the Western Cape that desperately need funds to survive and keep our club structure alive and, in turn, keep Aquatics alive in the Western Cape for future generations. All funds collected will be distributed to these individuals to save the future of Aquatics in our province.
Club swimmers from juniors up to National Swimmers will benefit from this fund as the coaches will be able to afford to wait out this pandemic according to government rules without abandoning their Profession.

All funds collected will be distributed to coaches that qualify as per criteria set out by WCA

Let's save the future of Aquatics in our province.

Western Cape Aquatics

Western Cape Aquatics Logo

The Covid-19 Lockdown has resulted in more or less 60 Western Cape Aquatics Swim Coaches losing their income in April, May and beyond as all swimming pools have been closed. Coaching children to swim is their primary source of income. No Coaching has meant no invoicing for coaching fees, therefore, no Salary! We are raising funds to provide a minimum income for coaches and their families to tide them over during these uncertain and stressful times.
