The Green Net has been blessed with the use of the gardens ‘below’ the hall of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sea Park, Port Shepstone, Kzn South Coast, South Africa. We have been hard at work clearing and planting. Our main lockdown project was the establishment of organic vegetable gardens in the community of Louisiana.
Whilst this ensured that people were able to eat (and learn basic gardening skills), it became apparent that the community has need of much more. Additionally, TGN has been carrying all the costs of seeds, compost, fuel, refreshments, communication, admin, etc.
In order to continue and expand, we need to raise awareness and funding, linking with local government and service organisations, NGO’s, Church groups, and other like-minded individuals, we believe we can develop our area to be a sustainable eco-paradise – providing food, shelter, employment and opportunity for all.
It all starts with education. There are many simple things we can all do to make an instant and real difference that we share freely, and encourage everyone to do the same.
Please can we ask you to make a donation to our worthy cause to enable us to keep on making a positive difference in the lives of many. Feel free to Share this campaign far and wide - we are all connected.
We will be able to offer more employment, upskill our farmers, develop a sustainable centre with environmental training, a restaurant, a nursery, and a tourism facility.
A the moment TGN pays a minimum of R2000 per month to local helpers, we buy compost and seedlings for the farmers, we pay R10/EcoBrick and need roughly 300-400 per bench - this will enable us to 'capture' the single-use plastics in the area, clean up the environment and build useful benches from this waste. To sponsor an EcoBrick Bench, the cost is R6000.
We require additional funds for fuel, data, administration (including accounting fees), website development (thegreennet.org.za), and marketing. Each project has it's own budget, which we are happy to share with interested parties.
