Thamsanqa Film Degree Funding

Personal message

I am Thamsanqa Sisa Hlatuka an AFDA Third year student this year. I will be doing Directing and Writing. I’m humbly asking for this bursary because my mom last year in August lost her job and she has been trying her best to pay my little sister school fees and mine. I would have been done with my degree last year if it was not for the unforeseen circumstance that I faced in 2017. I was hospitalised after finding out that my appendix had bursted for a week. I had to be rushed in for an emergency operation, which made me realise that I was close to sitting with my father for eternity. I lost my father in 2007 in a car accident and the doctors refused to operate on him.

This made me realise from a young age that life has its own mysteries that cannot be resolved but I want to take upon myself to tell stories that can enlighten and awaken young people that are going through a rough patch in their life that it is not the end of the world and that we need to support each other.

The only way that I can master that skill is by finishing my Third year this year and I humbly ask you to help me become a creative genius that I know that can be, I would like to make difference in the world through the beautiful craft of filming.
