Personal message

The Owl Orphanage. St Helena Bay

About us.

We are currently setting up an owl orphanage on a property we have secured for this purpose. The founder is Jacques Nel, a conservationist and nature addict.
Our aim.  The idea is to create a safe haven for injured and orphaned owls, birds of prey and other birds. At the Orphanage birds will be looked after, fed, rehabilitated and released back into nature, when ready. Any medical needs for any bird will be addressed by our local vet.

Reason.

With an increase in construction, fencing, electrical overhead cables, traffic, poison, superstition and many more, the need for such a place is great. Many baby owls gets orphaned with parents killed or injured.

More.

We are also planning other awareness and conservation initiatives in our community and schools, like tree planting initiatives, beaches clean-ups, educational programs and protection of our estuaries.

Need.

We need your help please with funding for the initial set up, to buy materials for aviaries, office, a small wooden cabin and fencing on one side of property. We are planning to go all green and self-sustainable.
Our hope is to be up and running by April next year. We are currently busy setting up a website and applying for NPO registration.
