Together for Kliptown

Personal message

We are Together Soweto, a group of young creative musicians with the passion of storytelling through harmony. The music group was formed in 2008 and since then, we have been ministering the sweet and inspiring music to the community of Kliptown, Soweto, and to a number of tourists who have visited Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication in Kliptown. The vision of Together Soweto is to build a musical hub in Soweto, to help young and upcoming artists tell their stimulating stories to the world through music.

Together Soweto would like to come in unity with you by raising funds to help the community of Kliptown with food parcels and other essential needs during the COVID-19 outbreak. A little help from you will be appreciated by the warm hearts of the community. Let’s unite together and lend a hand to the ones in need.

This campaign will have a huge impact on the community of Kliptown, especially during this pandemic. People from this community are usually faced with difficulties of affording basic needs and ever since the lockdown has been declared in South Africa, most of the people have been having a hard time living to the next day.

The lockdown is really helping the country in terms of cutting down the spread of the virus. However, the residents of Kliptown aren’t really coping. Most of the inhabitants here make a living through small businesses, offering their artistic products and services to tourists visiting the area. The lockdown has seen many small businesses failing to operate and thus leading to most households failing to receive any income at the moment.

The funds raised in this campaign will help many beneficiaries to live and be hopeful for the next day while staying at home and choosing life during the lockdown. We want people to believe that the next day will be brighter and more beautiful. Let’s stay safe and together during this time of need. The COVID-19 outbreak shall also pass and we will be free and happy again.

Our goal with this campaign is to buy food parcels in bulk and give them to the needy residents who are currently stranded at the base of their homes. We would like to at least help out 300-400 families with this campaign.

The breakdown for each parcel is as follows:

  • 1x Maize meal 2Kg- R35.00
  • 1x Rice 2Kg- R30.00
  • 1x Cooking oil 2L- R30.00
  • 2x baked beans- R25
  • 1x Cabbage- R10
  • 1x Sugar small- R10
  • 1x Teabags- R10
