Olympic Dreams Come In Tydes

Olympic Dreams Come In Tydes

Personal message

A dynamic performer and talented gymnast, Tyde Cooper prefers to be upside down and the wrong side up. She is a dedicated and hardworking South African High-Performance gymnast and trains at the University of Pretoria under the guidance of head coach Louis Fourie. At the age of 13 and her first year of competing in the Junior Olympic level, Tyde won the Junior National All Round title for 2019 and is working hard to represent her country at the Olympic Hope Cup in the Czech Republic in 2019, the African Games in 2020 and ultimately the Olympic Games in 2024.

Tyde trains Monday to Saturday. Her day commences with a morning training session from 06:30 until 10:30. Tyde is then homeschooled and attends an afternoon training session from 17:00 until 19:00. Her passion and commitment to succeed is a life skill that very few individuals ever acquire.

This young lady started her sporting career as a dancer and acrobat. At the age of 6, she won the Best Mini Acrobatic Dancer at the DanceStar World Championships in Croatia and went on to win the Young Dancer of the Year at the American Dance Awards and Best Acrobatic Dancer at the South African Talent Championships. Her desire to tumble and to be upside down led her to TUKS Gymnastics. She was quickly spotted and given a place on the High-Performance team. All Tyde's achievements can be viewed on her Facebook page @TydeCooper and on her Instagram page @tyde_cooper_1.
