UJW Johannesburg serves over 6 000 meals a month to people in need.

Thousands of adults and children in South Africa tragically don’t.

But you can help fill a tummy now!

ABOUT UJW JOHANNESBURG (UJW)

For nine decades UJW has helped the most vulnerable in our society. The need is now more urgent than ever in our poverty-stricken communities that have been devastated by massive job losses and, most recently, the outbreak of unrest and looting during July 2021.

We are a registered non-profit organisation and all donations are tax deductible and Level 1 BBBEEE compliant.

WHERE IS YOUR DONATION GOING?

UJW feeds thousands of people every month.

Our Alexandra Aftercare and Feeding Scheme feeds more than 200 adults and children every day. This hot meal is often their only meal of the day.
A cup of hot nutritious soup at our UJW Hillbrow Community Health Centre Soup Kitchen means the world to someone queueing in icy weather for hours to see a doctor or someone who has just given birth. The soup kitchen feeds around 1400 adults and 800 kids each month.

UJW Johannesburg

UJW Johannesburg is a service organisation that nurtures, among others, elderly indigent members of the Jewish community, participates in the fields of welfare and education, and promotes goodwill and understanding amongst all South Africans.

Founded in 1931 with the aim and objective of giving service to both Jewish and other communities, the UJWSA provided welfare projects during the depression years and later during the racially restrictive period of the National Party rule.

The organisation offered skills training in Centres of Concern, funded educational programmes, established crèches and nursery schools in Black and Coloured areas and empowered disadvantaged sections of society to find employment and to become self-sufficient. Many projects are self-sustaining and are still operational today.
