My Motorcycle Ministry Member Dream

Personal message

From an early age, I wanted to be a "biker". My dad always said "I will never buy you a bike! " When I started to earn my own money I bought my first bike. The feeling of freedom was (is) indescribable! At that stage of my life, I was far from what God wants me to be. Figuring out who I was, was a process of self-destruction. Even though I did not realise it at the time. Eventually, I got married to I awesome woman that lead me to Christ through example.

Years later I was baptized. Ever since I felt like God wanted me to do something for Him. I could never figure out what it was as I am not the going from door to door kinda person. As I started to get more involved in all things Christ, things started to go all wrong. As my second son was about to be born we lost our family business and everything along with it! Including my 2 bikes - Suzuki Intruder 1400 and BMW 650GS. I went from being financially very stable to losing everything and having nothing. It's now been 18 years and we are still trying to make ends meet, but I would not change anything for the world. In many ways than one, I am much richer than I was before.

Recently I met a lady at church from the Motorcycle Ministry and we started chatting. She told me about their mission and how she is trying to build the Cape Town Chapter. I realized that with my 20+ years of experience in marketing and design, I could be of great help to this worthy cause. It was like a huge light bulb went on! I can be of service to the Church and God's work by using my talent while doing something I LOVE - RIDING! It seemed too good to be true. Well, I immediately started looking for a bike and spotted one I liked for sale. It is a Yamaha Dragstar / V-Star 1100.

As I tried getting financial assistance from all over, nothing worked.
All doors closed... This brings me to this point... This morning my wife told me about a little boy who is immigration to New Zealand. He has a Jack Russel that he had to rehome because it was too expensive to take him along. The boy was very sad and set up a crowdfunding campaign. Within one day he was assisted with the funds to take his best friend with him -R40 000,00.

After being very disappointed and discouraged, I felt like it was intended for me to hear his story and do the same.

So, now I am going completely out of my comfort zone and asking for assistance to buy the bike and join the Adventist Motorcycle Ministry. I need to reach my target by 1 June 2019 to purchase a Yamaha Dragstar / V-Star 1100 for R50 000.00.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my story. If you can, I would appreciate your help in this regard.

I Arise Today

I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me
