 Safety Kit Drive

Safety Kit Drive

Personal message

In light of the recent threat to women's safety in our country and the list of offenders who are people that many of us had been exposed to and continue to be exposed to in our universities, I aim at providing 100 safety kits to women around my campus at the University of Witwatersrand. I have been inspired by the movement #iwillnotbenext by UCT students.

I would like to raise the funds by the 1 October 2019.

The funds will be used in purchasing safety/self-defense kits from Spytek Hi-Tech Surveillance & Security Equipment. The safety kit will have in it a taser and pepper spray which costs R300 per unit.

It might not do much to stop perpetrators in harming women but it will give women the power to protect themselves in case they are put in such a situation especially those who live outside the campus and are traveling home late from the library or just for their day to day lives.

*Funds raised will be transferred directly to the safety kit supplier.*

The #IWillNotBeNext movement aims to protect female students in Universities across South Africa.

Funds raised will be used to purchase and distribute units of pepper spray to women at the Universities who need to be protected from harm

A situation of danger could present itself at any time, and we find it necessary to do our part in making sure that every woman is prepared to defend themselves in a country that cannot protect us.

* Funds raised by this campaign will be transferred directly to the pepper spray supplier.
