Youth Foundation Cup

Personal message

The Foundation Club was started with the primary aim of creating opportunities at the grassroots level for keen footballers from economically strained communities.

The vision is to keep children active and involved in soccer by providing opportunities to play soccer at organized clubs, festivals and tournaments as well as to attend regional and provincial commitments where they ordinarily would not have the resources to take part.

This initiative plans to raise funds through various avenues, namely:
• The Foundation Cup Tournament (This will be the main fundraising event and includes a small sided soccer festival/tournament for age groups u8 to u14)
• Sponsorship
• Donations
• Other fund-raising activities

All funds raised will go towards creating a memorable sporting experience for the youth that take part, and aims to provide the players with:

1. Safe and Reliable Transport to and from club practices and matches
We have found that children from the townships struggle to get safe and reliable transport to both practices and matches, making it difficult for the various clubs to rely on them, and making it difficult for the children who potentially miss out on making team selection or making games. We would like to facilitate safe and reliable transport for these children to attend both practices and matches.

2. A Nutritious Meal and Drink at every practice and match
It is often evident that some of the children have not eaten all day, and then are expected to expend energy and play a full soccer match. Our aim to provide a meal, fruit and a drink for every sponsored child at every practice session as well as every match. This will ensure the children are sufficiently fed before they exercise.

3. Training / Playing Kit
Many of the children come to practice and matches without boots, socks and/or shin pads. We would like to provide each child with a full practice kit, including:

• boots
• shin pads
• socks
• shorts
• playing tops
• warm top / hoodie
• soccer ball

4. Registration Costs for club, regional and provincial commitments
Many of the clubs carry the registration cost players from impoverished areas and as numbers have increase, it has become challenging for the clubs to support the increasing number of players. Our aim to cover all club and regional costs and well as entrance fees to festivals and tournaments so that the children are able participate in the various leagues and competitions.

5. A dependable Player Coordinator for logistical requirements
Our vision is to employ player coordinators who will be responsible for communicating directly with the players parents, arrange pick up and drop off points, arrange that the children are fed and other logistical requirements. There is a wide range of activities and responsibilities that comes with looking after youth playing in different soccer across the region. We would like to ensure that the children are looked after, kept safe and all arrangements and activities run smoothly.

The vision is to keep children active and involved in soccer by providing opportunities to play soccer at organized clubs, festivals and tournaments as well as to attend regional and provincial commitments where they ordinarily would not have the resources to take part. The donations will mean that the kids are able to:
1. Join the clubs
2. Attend practices and matches
3. Have kit to play soccer in
4. Be sufficiently fed
5. Take part in tournaments
6. Have fun and enjoy soccer
