ZAY-LEE FOUCHÉ

Personal message

My name is Zay-Lee,

I am now 4 years old.

I cannot speak and walk yet.  But I am getting there.

My parents arranged some genetic tests and it shows everything is normal.  I have had various MRI scans and test done.

After many tests and doctors it is now confirmed, the cause of my developmental delay is most likely secondary to perinatal insult. It appears to have occured due to a stormy neonatal course. I required one month ICU stay. The doctor confirmed I had a neonatal seizures. I was diagnosed with neonatal encephalopathy.

I will need multidisciplinary support in the form of occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy.

I cannot do much for myself.  I am getting stronger day by day.  It seems that I am more talkative and active.  I am crawling much better and starting to try and pull myself up furniture, but I am too weak in my leg so I cannot do it yet, but I am sure I will get there.

I got my braces for my knees and ankles’ for both my legs.  Or should I rather say, I got my legs everyone, I got my legs. They say it will support me and it might just help me walk. I do need some help financially, because it cost a lot of money, and it will again costs a lot of money to replace the braces within a few months, because I am growing each day.

I have been fortunate enough with your Donations and help from Friends and Family who helped my parents to pay the Medical Orthotics & Prosthetics to create my new wonderful butterfly legs.  I had it for a few month now, but it is now time to get bigger one's.

I am attending a special school who caters for my needs.  The school is expensive and the therapy I need to received.  I have to get therapy at lease 5 days a week.

I have recently had Stem Cell Therapy as well, and the costs of the first harvest and therapy wasR25 000.00 and the follow up will be around R12 500.00.

Your support in my journey to have a normal as possible life is greatly appreciated.

Please help me help my parents to raise some funds to help me with what I need.  I would love to walk and talk, but it will need therapy and professional help.

Thank you everyone by sharing my journey, my story and helping me so far.
