Amankabane Development is a non-profit community youth development organization founded in 2018 in Vietnam, Philippi East by Jonathan Baju. It was founded on humanitarian principles to serve and support disadvantaged people especial youth and children, particularly those who are illiterate
In response to the worsening vulnerability of South African children, the organization now employs professional staff to provide support to a wide range of youth and children in need of care.
At present, Amankabane Development is rendering services to 60 beneficiaries. Amankabane is a Xhosa word, adopted from a clan name of Amankabane
The organization believes in the inherent potential in human beings that we ensure the effective delivery of health, nutrition, and education.
Education and social services as vehicles of social change. Most children from surrounding high-density suburbs and informal settlements are exposed to cram living conditions, (indecent accommodation), poor sanitary conditions, inadequate food, and rampant drug and alcohol abuse.
The majority of these children are orphaned and vulnerable living in single-parent headed, grandparent-headed or child-headed households.
Our community development approach aims at addressing historical imbalances through collective empowerment, facilitating processes that help the poor, vulnerable and marginalized to regain control over their lives.
