Through journalism and activism, BTM provides reliable information and initiates dialogue about LGBTI issues in Africa to ensure that human rights are recognised as indivisible and are guaranteed for everyone. Vision As a proud, celebratory, and reliable voice of African LGBTI people and communities, BTM strives to promote respect for sexual diversity, and Objectives Aware of the importance of (advanced) ICT means for African LGBTI activists and individuals, the objectives of BTM are: • To develop and maintain a LGBTI-focused website; • To provide LGBTI-focused journalism training and computer skills training; • To expand and coordinate a network of BTM correspondents in African countries; • To pursue other projects which address local or pan-African LGBTI needs which are consistent with the mission of BTM; • To become involved in solidarity initiatives with like-minded organizations; and • To develop and sustain BTM’s capacity to further the mission of the organization. BTM is currently acknowledged as the prime source of reliable information on LGBTI affairs in Africa by a growing constituency of visitors and subscribers; by South African, African and international media, researchers and LGBTI activists in the northern hemisphere, as well as by a growing number of donors willing to support African LGBTI initiatives.
