Cape Town City Mission
Many of the youth coming through our programmes come from very destructive backgrounds, serious crime, gangsterism, prostitution, serving sentences or are ex-offenders. Often, City Mission staff are found in very dangerous and challenging communities. Communities with growing levels of poverty, unemployment, indigent households and unemployment, which in many cases lead to lives of crime and destructive and damaging behaviours and life choices.
This is where our work takes place, to poor and marginalised sectors of society. Our strategy is to meet the needs of individuals and families through various forms of Aid & Relief services, community and prison soccer programmes, training and development and ex-offender re-integration programmes. Through this we are able to build relationship and start critical conversations that changes mindsets, behaviours and lives.
We have dramatic stories of transformation and our main purpose is to instil values and core beliefs that completely and permanently changes lives and transforms communities.
This year, City Mission celebrates its 117th years of existence and operates on Christian Biblical principles. We found our humble beginnings in District Six and currently operate in many areas on the Cape Flats, West Coast and Drakenstein Prison in Paarl.
